Why I Built Kingdom Connect

Hi, my name is Mark, and I’m the founder and developer of Kingdom Connect.

Kingdom Connect has been on my heart for many years, long before the platform existed in its current form. What began as a simple idea has steadily grown into something much larger over time.

Part of the vision came from a personal experience my wife and I had while searching for a church. We found it surprisingly difficult to discover churches that matched what we were looking for, and later faced the same challenge trying to find Christian events in our local area. Information was often scattered, outdated, or inconsistent.

From that, the core idea behind Kingdom Connect was born: to create a platform that makes it easier for Christians across the UK to discover churches, events, ministries, and community.

Although the vision had existed for years, development properly began in early 2026 after a long period of planning, prayer, and seeking direction. Eventually, I made the decision to step away from my existing web development business and focus on building Kingdom Connect full time.

It has been both a huge leap of faith and a significant challenge, but the platform has now grown far beyond its original purpose as a directory.

Today, Kingdom Connect includes tools that help churches and ministries manage their presence online, create local and global events, and communicate through Circles — community spaces designed for groups, teams, courses, and announcements.

Church leaders who claim their listing can also create a free website generated directly from their existing profile data, helping reduce duplication and keeping everything connected in one place.

Over time, I’ve continued building tools to enrich the platform further, including sermon management, website integrations, and widgets that allow churches to display content externally while maintaining a single source of truth within Kingdom Connect.

More recently, I introduced the KC Bible — a study-focused Bible experience designed around the kind of tools I always wished existed in one place. This includes features such as interlinear and Hebrew word study tools, verse highlighting and categorisation, personal reflections and notes, and the ability to share reflections publicly for others to explore and engage with.

The Bible is now also integrated into Circles, making it easy for members to share scripture within their communities for encouragement, discussion, and study.

I’ve also recently added a Resources section, with plans to expand it over time into a useful collection of studies, teaching materials, and practical resources for churches and Christians.

Alongside development, I’ve also spent a lot of time thinking about sustainability. For a short period, I introduced a Plus tier and a Founding Supporters option in an attempt to support ongoing development costs and allow me to continue working on the platform full time.

However, after much prayer and reflection, I realised that direction no longer aligned with the heart behind the project. I found myself placing barriers around features that I ultimately wanted to remain freely accessible, so I made the decision to remove both entirely and return Kingdom Connect to a fully free platform.

At this stage, I feel the core foundation of the platform is now in place. However, one area that still needs significant work is content, onboarding, and communication. I’ve had very little time to create tutorial videos, walkthroughs, and social content that properly explain the deeper features and vision behind the platform.

That’s why I recently published the “Help Us Create Kingdom Connect Tutorials (Video, Socials & Guides Needed)” post.

If you have experience with video editing, social media content, writing, or content creation, and would like to contribute in some way, I’d genuinely love to hear from you.

I’ve also added a Ko-fi page for anyone who would like to support the project financially. Any contributions will go directly towards creating content, tutorials, and resources that help more churches and ministries discover and use the platform effectively.

Ultimately, I now need to trust the direction this project has taken and allow room for it to grow naturally. If the vision behind Kingdom Connect is truly where it’s meant to be, then I believe the right people, support, and opportunities will come in time.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.
